Some of you may have heard about this situation before, but I'm still at a loss. Here's my post from MAF:

My quadra 800 running 8.1 (OT 1.3) recognizes my 10.1 iMac just fine in the chooser and mounts the HD without a hitch. My quadra 660av under 7.1 and OT 1.1.2 does pretty well too - it recognizes the iMac most of the time and usually does file transfers smoothly. It never fails to connect using the IP address of the iMac. The problem is on the newer end of the network. The iMac used to recognize both computers in the Connect to Server dialog but reported an error when connecting. Now it doesn't recognize either of them, ever. Ideas?

i think i know this one!!

OK, this is going to be a little complicated:
(disclaimer: I can't remember where i heard about this, it might have been from here. Who knows what it does to your network, but osx will see your oldschool macs.)

in osx, goto utiltities then netinfo manager

goto security in the menu bar and authenticate

then in the middle window click on CONFIG

Then click APPLEFILESERVER

scroll down to the bottm and i think it's USE_APPLETALK. it's set to 0, you need to change it to 1 (ok, i honestly can't remember, it might be reg_appletalk... which ever one is 0, change it to 1)

logout and login and you have APPLETALK OF THE AGES!

That's from the system 6 website. Done it. It helped the 68k's see the iMac, but not the other way around
