why, you may ask? everything is so FRIGGING EXPENSIVE!!! examples: powerbook duo 2300c: $699-$899 Centris 650 :$119 PM6500/300 logic board, no exchange: $1,938.46 PM6500/300 system: $595HA, it is almost laughable, the 6500 logic board is almost 4 times as much as the entire system!! it is almost amusing browsing through their website seeing the contrast between (expensive) systems and (REALLY FRIGGING expensive) service parts. my conclusion: STAY AWAY CCC Lieutennant Commander (Pronounced LEFTENNANT, dangitt) Protector of the abandonned toastermacs 68k Macs Rescued: 2 Pluses, a 512KE, a Classic II, and a Quadra 650 Contraband rescued: Power Computing PowerBase 200, and a PowerMac 8600/300 |

Yeah, I have gone lookign there several times. I have no idea how they justify those prices, I emailed them once and got no response.I mean, even if those were brand spanking new parts (which im sure alot of them are) they aren't worth that much. Although...If I could get THAT much out of my 6500....I sure wouldn't mind ~The Penguin | Captain, Intelligence Operations / Space Cowboy | There is only one path and that is the path that you take, but you can take more than one path. | 68k.torpedobird.com <-- Official Hotline Server | |

The sad thing is that some idiot IT guy somewhere has probably paid the prices they ask to keep whatever old machine that their company refuses to replace alive.666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 My Site: http://cine.sytes.net My Hotline Server: 840av.sytes.net

dot dot doti once was going to buy the cheapest duo they had for a project... indeed i found my brain (or couldn't find the funding...) i should think though... you wanna know who'se overcharging... www.shrevesystems.com has been selling ANS500s without DAT drives for $1099 for as long as i can remember, and that's AT LEAST 5-6 years (that i was a macaddict) i could get a brand new iMac and osXserver for that price! it'd work better too, i'd email them but whenever i tried, i got an unsendable thing or something... everyone tells me that the NIB LC580 that they've got for $79 is a rip-off, but i think that it's the one good deal on the site, they must have hundreds because 5 years ago, it was like, almost $700 on it's own. without the CD drive... :sigh: Official 68k videographer |
