My Classic II (System 6.08L) is behaving very strangely. When I attempt to start it, I get the chime and the happy mac appears briefly. After a few seconds I then get the flashing floppy, as if it can't find the system software. I've tried booting from a floppy, but it gets ejected as soon as the happy mac appears. Inserting the floppy when the flashing floppy appears gives varying results. A 6.08L floppy is ejected right away, while a 7.01 floppy gives a happy mac again, but the system crashes with a bus error before it fully starts up. Anyone got any ideas? |

ZAP the PRAM? better yet, unplug it and pull the battery out for a few minutes.Swap in another FDD, maybe you are getting a disk error message in sign language before the system has loaded? Have you got an Apple ROM'd CD to hook into it with the lid off or an ecternal to hook up to it? I'm just guessing, btw! =8-/ Peripherals Quiz of the Day: Everybody needs a "boat anchor" CD-ROM drive (External Caddy Loader with an Apple logo on it) TWO is MUUUUUUCH better! Tell me why? jt ™. Have you tried swapping in another HD or formatting the one you already have? I've found that a dodgy HD can sometimes cause problems similar to the one you are having.-------------------------- "I keep my friends close, but I keep my enemies closer" - Unkown Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 6

Cos then you can plug CDROM 1 into CDROM 2, and CDROM 2 back into CDROM 1, and have them talk to each other, then spend hours of enjoyment with the whole family, watching a couple of cdroms talk to each other!
Wrong, dana be ding-dong! Where was the link to the two slot loaders swapping a disk back and forth? jt ™. Trash Hauler: call sign: eight-ball C.O. AC-130H SpecOps 68kMLAAF |
