AUGH! I was trying to install 10.2 on my G3 AIO, and when I hit "restart" on the install screen, it, ofcourse, restarted. so it made the pritty startup sound (what is that chord? does anybody know what it is?) and it showed a grey screen with the words " 'T', unknown word.". I figured this was some sort of unix fiddlywink. so I did the rarely used mac 3 fingre salute and removed the install CD, and I got the same thing with just the hard drive... so I tried doin a clean install of mac OS 8 on a syquest 88MB cart... same thing, then I tried booting from the os 9 install disk... same thing again. so I tied unplugging all volumes, and started up, an watched for at least a flashing question disk, but... " 'T', unkown word.". I am thinking that 10.2 corrupted the ROM, but I don't see how that could happen, unles beige G3s had flash ROMs... ho hum... this is the first problem where my mac wont even show the mouse corsur at startup... it's scary! I didn't even know macs could poop themselves like that...
Hnx

I'm sorry , didn't mean to laugh, but you should be writing comedy skits or the like. I could see Drew Carrey pulling that off on "Whose Line Is It Anyway". Ahh, my gut still hurts from the strain. Do you have a drive you could swap out as the main and then reformat the old one?

Once he boots up under os 8 or 9, he can look through the other HDD and copy what he needs or wants. You just can't run anything requiring 9.2 or above.

10.2 doesn't use the "happy mac" any more, so do you think that when 10.2 tried to disable it or whatever it went bleh.

I wouldn't have thought software would have been actually been able to do this kind of damage.

heh. I aim to please! if you think THAT'S funny, then wait untill I upload my "cheese and stuff" document to the 68kmla hotline thingey... all I need is a hotline client that would work with sys 6.0.4, 1MB ram and an '000 CPU... then the REAL fun begins...

yeah... umm... why would it do that BEFORE IT LOOKS FOR A BOOT VOLUME?! I inserted a disk with sys7.5.5 and it didn't even give me a happy mac sign, or any indication of it doing anything past the pre-boot diagnostics... and I see a small PCB that bares resemblance to the ROM in the newton 2x00 series handhelds... hmmm... nah.. dumb idea.
