Are vcd's large 12" typce cd's or are they "normal" size?

2 monitors 15" & 14" os 8.1 56k modem Stylewriter 1200 Zodiac speakers Umax 1220s scanner

They are the size of a normal CD. However, the only way you could really watch one on your Quadra would be to connect a VCD player to the AV in ports on your Quadra...i don't think that the Quad would be powerful enough to play a VCD full screen, plus the 2x CD ROM would be too slow.

The 12" discs you're thinking of are laserdiscs. They weren't around for very long...

Yeah. The last time i saw a LaserDisc i was in, like, Grade 4. And i'm 17 now, so....

My quadra840av can & might do it, & I plan to install an 8x cd.

I just wanted to be sure that I didnt buy some & end up with massive discs(laser discs).

You'll need a faster CD drive to play a VCD properly. A 2x drive is too slow.
