Can you use a Type III Duo battery in a 280/280c? I know they were initially made for the 2300c, but I can't remember if they were backwards compatible.

Type III batteries were released at the same time as the 2300c, but they were not intentionally made for the 2300c. All Duo batteries are compatable with all models. Type I works in a 230, and so does a Type III. Placing a Type III in a Duo that shipped with a Type II will only give you better life expectance on the battery.

So in answer to your question, yes it will work in your 280c.

Ahh, gracias el Capitan Zee.

It's strange, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Type III's would only work in a 2300c. Go figure!

No kidding. Getting hold of a Type III with a garunteed charge runs $100-$130. Even then, the charge will only last about an hour on a 16-bit Duo. I'm thinking about getting a NOS Type III off eBay, which is at $26 with 21 hours left, as there's at least non-DOA garuntee. But, I'm wary to bid more than about $30 or $40. I just don't know if it's even worth that...

Nothing's wrong with it, it's just that I'm thinking what's the point of even getting it at any price if it's only going to give me an hour or less of power? Well, I'll probably get it anyway. As long as it doesn't go over $45.

Well, I won it, and at about $42 with shipping and insurance. The Uber 280c cometh! Prepare yourselves...
