So, I was happily running my own SMTP server on a Quadra 700 until yesterday. I was running the old Eudora Internet Mail server and all was good.

Yesterday, my ISP, Verizon DLS started blocking port 25 on my line. Now I can't connect to my own SMTP server to send mail. Any ideas for alternate software packages that will listen on a port other than 25? I haven't been able to figure out how to get EIMS to do it, or Stalker. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Is this part of the change in Verizon DSL's email server or a separate issue? Have you changed the outgoing settings yet?

I've never acutally used Verizon's SMTP server. I was running my own. I have changed nothing on my box, it just stopped recieving mail to send on port 25. I got the message on my email client (on my laptop) that it could not reach the SMTp server (which I knew was working and could ping). It's clear that they are just blocking that port. This is fairly common, and most ISPs do it. The easy work around is to just reconfigure my SMTP server to listen on another port and change my client settings to match. The problem is that EIMS doesn't have a setting for changing this. It's a really old app.

Anyone got a newer version that runs on a Quadra or another SMTp server program suggestion?

Can you hack it with ResEdit?

I suppose that's one way to go. I'll have a look at it over the weekend. It's been a while since I used resedit for anything interesting. Seems like therre must be an easier solutions, like a version more recent that still runs on 68k hardware though.
