 shuttin the mirror server down for a while

I will shut the server down tomorrow afternoon for repairs, for a couple days. almost every file is corrupt, and it keeps freezing up. I think all of the power outages over the summer kinda killed things, so I am going to initialize all of the hard drives, and start clean. And I will install an UPS on it, for good measure.

I have backups of everything on my g3, so once I get everything initialized, it should work fine.

I could use a UPS for my Quadra 840av! I saw one at a thrift store, but it was flaky..which, I guess, defeats the purpose, no?

I already have a 400 watt inverter, but it has a permanent home in my car (which is a Chevy Lumina, btw). It is used to run a 6100, a couple sets of blue christmas lights, and a big blacklight.

I found out why my server kept freezing when I looked at the log files that I rescued from the hard drives. Some a$$hole from my school decided to find my ip, and set up an attack. The log files for my http and hotline server are filled with connection attempts (I think a couple hundred thousand attempts). I traced the IP address, and it is a WCOIL ip, which is an isp based in my county.

The server will be back up and running in a week or two, whenever I have time to mess with it.

-and kick a few "dents" in *someone's* Ford Focus.

erm . . . :rolleyes: . . . you might want to delete some or all of the specific info in the previous post and then you can probably feel a little more free to kick something or other that's just a little bit more on the nondescript side when you take out your frustrations!

somebody's @$$ comes to mind, but i wouldn't want to be encouraging any criminal activity if you know what i mean, comrade!

Well, if you have his IP, talk to his ISP and get them to terminate his account.

Good idea. Btw, although Ford makes weak pieces of s**t (well at least they do now...i've seen some pretty smashed up fords in prangs), i still don't think that this sorta stuff should be discussed on the forums.
