Well, as you can surely tell by the title of this posting, I'm having a hard time catching my breath... I got my long-awaited student financial aid check yesterday, and, to my massive shock, it was a lot more dough then I'd been expecting! Like 2.5x more! Turns out that, when they'd sent me my award letter a few months ago, certain funds were left off due to a system error (or some such malarkey)... So, giddy with the shock of having so much money, I went out to spend some! I ended up at the local GameStop (aka FunCoLand), and by the time I left, I had a new PlayStation 2, Metal Gear Solid 2 (used), Forever Kingdom (also used), a memory card, and a couple of other small things. I'm still not sure that this was a good idea (certainly not the most mature thing I've done this week!)... but it's been a blast!!! MGS:2 is an absolute masterpiece, on a par with any great film I've ever seen (and a good deal better then many). Okay, that's about it. Just needed to rant for a bit. Thanks! MGS is like a movie, one where you watch the characters talk rather than doing things or having fun. ~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit Mayor of NuBus City v3.0

Well, yeah, there are a lot of cut-scenes... but that's what I like about MGS! The gameplay is amazing- simply the best action/adventure game ever, but they never forget that there's a serious story being told, and if a lot of that story is told through cut-scenes, then so be it! I just can't knock 'em for it- how many terrible games have come out over they years, games that couldn't give a crap about whatever thin excuse for a story was being passed off as filler between level loads. I'll take MGS's style over that any day! </fanboy> SpaceBoyAppleBASIC FOREVER! Boy oh boy...I remember back in 1997/1998 when I used to received those financial aid refund checks my first year at CalArts...they were usually in the $2000-$3500 range...and my eyes would be like saucers when I opened up the envelopes!Just one bit of advice...spend it wisely. I can't even remember what the hell I did with all that money, but I still get a bill every month that I'll be paying off for a long time... 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 My Site: http://cine.sytes.net My Hotline Server: 840av.sytes.net Edited by - cinemafia on 28 Aug 2002 12:16:04
