On all the Quadras, it seems that they all have the two buttons. The one is the force restart button and the other I hear is a programmers button. How do I use this button. When pressed while OS is loaded white box apears. pressing when booting plays the chimes of death, unlike the iMac which loads FirmWare.

That'd be a dialog box if you had MacsBug loaded, IIRC.

The programmers interrupt button is sometimes useful for gracefully recovering from crashed/stuck applications. If you hit that button you often get a blank box with a ">" prompt. Typing in "G FINDER"&return will sometimes get you back to the Finder from whence you can restart. And, if you have a debugger loaded (e.g., Macsbug) hitting the programmers interrupt button lets you get into debugging mode. (BTW, there are also some Easter eggs on some macs that require the use of this button -- just do a bit'o Googling ).

If you have MacsBug installed, you can recover from about 90% of crashes without restarting, I've found.
