A dear friend of mine is moving back to florida. Alas her computer must remain here in Sin City because it's the network "hub" for all the other computers in her house.I offered her her choice of 2 computers: Phoenix (my 7600) or Goatboy (PC -- Linux/Windows).
She chose Goatboy. I know that to most of you, Goatboy is only a PC, and even though I never got that much done with him (due to time constraints and the fact that I didn't have a good space for him at my desk) but I'm going to miss the ole kludge box. I had hoped to teach myself about *nix on him, but the OS X has a much gentler learning curve.
I taught myself 3 things on him:
1) How to solve the "divide overflow error" problem that occurs when you try to format an older scsi drive running off an adaptec card with a W98 boot disk.
2) How to partition a drive. (Which is the key to solving the divide error mentioned above.)
3) How to set up a dual boot system. (I figured that since I had to chop the drive into 4 partitions, I might as well do the dual boot thing.)
He will be missed, but he's going with somebody desperatly happy to have a Pentium Pro 200 with 128 megs of ram.

This week Phoenix and I are going to figure out how to format a drive in HSF+ as I reinstall OS 8.1. And then I'm going to get a new pram battery and see if the LC III will come alive.
