I dont even know anything about these!

Oh yes lots of emulation programs to emulate these, but I never got the programs to work, or at least maybe I just dont know how to work a macII is it a bit like dos?

No, a Mac II is just like your Quadra, only slower. The Apple II is like DOS.

I am thinking of an old, worthless type of computer to act as a server(not sure if I understand what a server is) so as to be the "hub" of my networked quadras.

But even then I think a Quadra may be the best deal for this.
