what is the fastest way of transferring files between an imac (10/100 baseT, usb, firewire but no way of expanding) and a quarda 840av (aui, serial scsi and nubus cards)
is there any other ways aside from aui transciever or a nubus ethernet card (which of those 2 is faster?)
i want to connect a vcr to the 840 and use timbuctoo from an imac to record tv onto the imac hd

im irish, it is my duty to ask stupid questions.

you could use sneaker net but for video no you would need to use ethernet no other option the easyest way would be a AAUI to RJ45 Adapter would be your cheapest and easiest option.

I'd agree. An AAUI adaptor is probably the best bet, since it doesn't take up one of your puny 3 (!) NuBus slots.

~coxy is assuming you know about NuBus 10/100 NICs, which would probably be the fastest method available. but thay are pricey and rarely available on eBay.

sneakernet: neolithic networking protocol that puts mileage on your sneakers walking floppy disks between machines.

Yep, ethernet is the best route. Just get an AAUI to RJ-45 adapter and run a crossover ethernet cable between the two. Dats it!
