I've got my eMate onto a LocalTalk network, and it can see the zone that it's in and all that. However, any connection I try to establish fails. I can't Telnet anywhere using VT100, and I can't use NetHopper; I get the same error when the status bar gets to "Connecting to the Internet"!

Does anyone have any experience with NewtonOS networking?

I don't think the newton OS supports tcp/ip over localtalk, but i could be wrong (since you can use serial modems...). Are you using a localtalk/ethernet adapter, because the 2 different models of those that i have, don't support tcp/ip either. I would try with my emate, but the cable is still broken, I haven't worked on it yet.

Does is see NCU on a mac on the network? Does it connect to NCU?

It did when I ran LocalTalk Bridge on a beige G3 tower, but it's actually connected straight into a LocalTalk bus now. It loads the LocalTalk and the MacIP driver, but then conks out on "Connecting to the Internet."

Do you have a macip server on your localtalk network?

This might be a question for the newtontalk list. I've never tried this on my newtons, sorry.

Yeah, there's a MacIP server there.
I might post it to NewtonTalk, good idea.
