I emailed the Nostalga guy & asked for an Atari st emulator for my 68kmac. The reply was non too favourable.

but he said that there is an "old nostalgia" that will run on 68kmac but it is too slow.

How slow is slow? My st manages 8 mhz & that is fine by me.

I am sure there must be an Atari st emulator lurking out there somewhere(to run on my Quadra840av)

I am hoping that a kindly sole will read this & either email me one or provide me with a link to download one.

Considering how bad a 68k emulates a slow Z-80 in a GameBoy, I wouldn't be suprised if it couldn't do an ST all that well. Emulation inherently requires a lot of overhead.

Interesting,

I've run the ines emulator with absolutely no problems (actually this was on my virtual 'basilisk java run-time edition' Q650, but still, a 840av is no slouch, right?

Except that an Atari ST is a 68K system, so you enter that realm of emulation where you should be able to run the code natively.

What is the "ines" emulator?

MagicMac (run st software on a 68k mac)is very good at what it does(or so ppl say) & the ST had MagicSac & Spectre GCR(run mac software on an st).

I think I will try an old version of MagicMac.

Darek Mihocka wrote Gemulator & Softmac(emulate an st or a mac on pc)& collaborated with The guy who wrote MagicMac.

I've asked him to write an emulator for me. I'm not holding my breath.

Gemulator is an emulator in the "true" sense as it emulates the 68000 code of the st, whereas MagicMac, MagicSac & Spectre GCR allow you to use well behaved programs(ones that dont make specific hardware calls).

Magic upsets me cos it isn't TOS, it is very Mac OS like.

now theres the thing, Could I port TOS for use on my mac?????????????????

This happens as you can use Gem(graphic environment manager) on a pc as well as an ST.

any positive thoughts?
