Performa&500megharddrive

shaktiman Senior Member United Kingdom 1226 Posts	Posted - 10 Aug 2002 : 15:03:25 I tried to put my 500 meg scsi drive into my Performa. The Performa wouldn't boot from it. I put the 500 meg into my Quadra & loaded it up with goodies,I then transplanted the 500 meg to my Performa, but my Performa rejected the transplant. I can't bear to give the Performa up, at least not without having a go at hacking/upgrading it first. I may put the Performas cpu into an st!!! that would teach the little bugger, I really can't imagine that I could devalue either machine much anyhow, as I expect to make about £5 of either of them so instead of £5 I might make £3 lol. shaktiman Quadra 840av 128MB ram 2MB vram cd drive(caddy),1 caddy!:-)1.44 floppy drive,inject :-(1.2 gig drive 2 monitors 15" & 14" os 8.1 56k modem Stylewriter 1200 Zodiac speakers Umax 1220s scanner 3 year old son!

oldmacman Full Member USA 713 Posts	Posted - 10 Aug 2002 : 19:21:48 IIRC, your drive has 8.1 on it, which will only work with an 040 or higher. It should work if it has an older OS on it, like 7.1, 7.5.5, or 7.6.1. Try to install OS 7.5 minimum on the HD and in your master system starter extension and starter control panel. And try too SCSI Probe control panel to mount it. macaka It's the war....
