Weeellllll, i just got back from the school dance. Not quite the night i was expecting, either.

I think my social life is pulling an "Apple Without Steve Jobs"...attracting girls, which used to be easier than buying an iMac, is now rocket science. Tonight i ended up with girls that ran away from me, or looked at me and pretended to swat a fly. Most of the time there, i was either sitting down, or just wandering around, bored. The DJ that was hired, was unprofessional, played crappy music, and could'nt fix the right speaker, which kept dying. On my way to get a drink then, i saw this bunch of girls who pretended to be friendly and stuff at first, but then went crazy. What a bunch of b*tches.

The highlights of the night involve just sitting around, and *gasp* *shudder* spending time with my ex.

What a waste of money, emotions, and time.

Some of the neatest times I've spent are with exes... though it's dud when splits aren't amicable, and leave two people antagonistic towards one another, there's lots worse than spending time with an ex - while that sounds kinda flippant, really, spending time just hanging with someone you do know somewhat intimately is a lot nicer than running in circles waiting for... something or someone that's all unknown.

Of course, things COULD have been a lot better - but they're rare moments... for me anyhows :D

Bah. The Ball isn't about chicks, anyway. What you should have done is spend time with your friends mainly, crazy dancing, eating and generally having a good time.
Just wait until uni, then the ladies will be even harder to impress.

the first bit sounds like the best bet for finding the right kind of _AF. the only thing worse than finding an unending stream of _AF that you can't impress when you're trying to would be finding one that you CAN!

find somebody who's impressed with you when you're having fun doing the things you like to do and flip off the ones that are shopping for something impressive or someone who's trying to impress or entertain them. invest your time in having fun and find out all you can about somebody who indicates they're interested in the things that are fun for you.

<sexist pig mode>

if you can carry off half the stuff in the above paragraph and remember to ask lots of questions instead of talking about yourself when your guard is down as you're just having fun and a chick shows some interest, you'll be way ahead in the game!

. . . and the smartest girls are WAAAAYYYY more fun!

trust me!

</sexist pig mode>

go see or rent "a beautiful mind". that guy had the right idea when it came to meat market tactics!

. . . had some other interesting ideas too . . . but we won't get into that!

I remember I was on the road to male-slutdom when I met my future wife. The tables were turned on me and I was set up by a mutual friend without knowing it. Nine years later,.........I gotta give a big thanks to Jan for doing it to me. I guess what I'
m getting to, you don't really find it when you're looking. It finds you when you're not.

Sorry to hear about the silly games at the dance, I've been an indentured serf, er husband for nearly 11 years, and I haven't any real complaints. Bachelorhood was fun, but I got tired fo coming home to a empty apartment and silence. I wouldn't trade my life (or wife)for anything. When you find a good one, you'll know it...

HAR(TM),
I somewhat agree with boredomconquoresall (I butchered it, didn't I?) when it comes to breakups and people that throw your stuff out for no apparant reason, but there are some smart people of the opposite sex (or same sex, whichever way you swing) that will have the same intersts as you, or embrace your hobbies. it may be like trying to find a grain of sugar in 40 dumptruckloads of salt, but what the hell -- it is worth a shot :)

OK, now that I have shot tangents way the hell and gone out of here, I will shut up

There's absolutely NO rush.

Here's my 2 pointers:

For a short term relationship - catch them on the rebound, have your fun and get out quick.

Long term - Just take your time and meet new people. Get to know them and look for their interests. You'll never know without asking. And just because you might not agree on macs or something like that, there might be something else that is more important or can help build something a relationship on. Of course that only works if you have more interests than macs...
