Those wacky japanese. Brilliant! When of practice * LC475 of memory slot addition or... "how to redirect the unused RAS lines of the MEMCjr memory controller to a set of multiple simm sockets... and how to redirect the existing ras line to disable the 4Mb onboard RAM and direct that to a THIRD simm socket" dana (love this stuff :D |

great find, dana!i'm surprised this hasn't been done before, i figured a CPU carrier hack would do the same kind of thing plus adding the possibility of including another little twist. have you run across any information leading you to think that the 605 ROMs might support an L2 Cache? jt ™. Re L2 cache: Micromac makes an L2 cache (compatible with the Q605) that goes between the CPU socket and the CPU. But as always the problem w/Micromac is the price: $99, ouch!

What gets me pondering is that, if I understand the whole RAS/CAS thing, and how it applies to the 605s controller and that hack, if it's not impossible to have a double-banked simm in that 3rd slot (as the site says it needs) and 2 single banked simms in the others - but all being 128Mb... that could give a 384Mb microquadra. Overclock that all to the most it'll do (44Mhz or therabouts) and... *faints* dana
