I heard that the 840 av was the best but the 950 had the most expansion humm.... what would happen if you put the av card from a 840 into a 950 would it work? would it make a 950 av? But what would be the best to get ?-Danny Canadian Sniper Squadron 2 stars. Tones of mac junk in the corner of my closet. ----- Servers: afp://68kdisk.no-ip.com |

I think the ulltimate 68k would be a 68060 based logic board in a compact mac case with a color crt, built in enet and all standard mac ports. Best part of all: running system 6.0.8!! Just me tho....

If this were 1992 during the end of the 68k era, i would get a 950 with 2 jackhammer cards with a 4 drive raid on each. A sweet AV card, possibly the videovision studio (the only top end nubus av card that i know of). A 10/100 card and a Thunder IV GX. Of course maxed out ram and a cdrom. That would all fit in the case except for the break out box. That setup today, could be still very useful. _______________________ Sgt. I don't think you could fuse a Quadra 840av & a Quadra 950.Truth is the Quadra 950 is just too ugly. What we want is the Quadra 860av, with a larger case(to fit 7 more nubus cards & 3 more drives), with possibility of having 1 gig of ram? I am not exactly obssessed but, my Quadra has a removable rom so an upgraded rom, new casing(based on similar design) & Apple mac os 8.1 rewritten to be 68060 savvy & I'm there. Motorola are the most likley company to build this machine but Apple would be preferable. I say this because the reason that I am typing this on my Quadra 840av is not because Apple is perfect but because all my st's have broken on me & my pc did too & value for money I dont believe you can beat 68kmac. shaktiman Quadra 840av 128MB ram 2MB vram cd drive(caddy),1 caddy!:-)1.44 floppy drive, inject :-(1.2 gig drive 2 monitors 15" & 14" os 8.1 56k modem Stylewriter 1200 Zodiac speakers Umax 1220s scanner 3 year old son! |

I'd agree with the 840av, I'm lusting after one pretty badly, I'm also on the hunt for a PM7300 or 7600. But the 840 is just way cool with its AV ports and a 68040 at 40Mhz. I also agree with the sentiment that the 950 is ugly, it looks like a dumpster. If there were ever a Mac beauty contest, a 950 is a sure loser in the looks dept. (Not that looks are everything.... )
