Has anyone actually tried to make a dedicated server/client operation with old macs? I know that schools have done it , but has anyone here tried to recreate this setup at home?

If one LC with a 12" monitor, the Keyboard II and either of the ADB mice looks cool on it's own, wouldn't it look REALLY nice with a whole room of them 2 per table and one printer, a quadra or so and some really big hard drives, use the LCs with some sort of solid state storage rather than a hard drive, then only the minimal system needed to boot the ocmputer and access the server which has the programs and userdata on it.

Not on the scale that you're referring about, but when all i had were 68k, i had my 950 serve as a print server and file sharing for my q650 and pb165 via macip server. It worked well, i kept games and apps on the 950 (both running 8.1) and used program linking to run the apps on the q650. Those were the days...
