From what I've seen/heard, most 100-180 PowerBooks have dead or seriously impaired batteries. I've heard about how they deteriorate and don't hold a charge, etc. I've got a 165 on the way and I want to know where a good, reliable source for batteries would be. I'm sure I'll have to replace the sucker, so who's trustworthy to give me a live one?

I have a 145 and a 180c, and all the batteries I have (I have 3 for the 100 series) are dead. The aveage charge held is 5 minutes.

The 100 series batteries were the most prone to having the Memory Effect occur to it. This was not tha case on the Powerbook 100, because of the Lead Acid batteies. (The 100 series had Nickel-Cadmium batteries).

Remember that most of the 100 series batteries that are out there have been manufactured almost 8 years ago, so it is no wonder they don't hold a charge. The only ones still being manufactured are by BTI, and run in price around $100.

Unforunetly, that's what it will come to more than likely...

Although, some 100 series batteries can be somewhat resurrected by resetting the Power Manager. It depends on when they were manufactured.

They carry batteries for the 100 series powerbooks for $68. They will work on everything but the 190. I will get one sometime, but really only use my pb at home anyway, so it's not a huge priority.
Scott.

well, I remembered it simply because it was in reply to my quest for a new battery.

perhaps the link should go up on the website.
