I just returned from a trip to see relatives. On the way back, we spent the night with family at their house. In the guest bedroom were two Mac boxes. Inside them was the following:

Performa 6115CD pizza-box computer
15" Monitor
AppleDesign II keyboard and mouse
Advanced Gravis Mac MouseStick II joystick
Color StyleWriter 2400 printer
Apple Powered Speakers

My aunt said that she would be glad to have me take it all.

Since there was little room in our car, I was only able to take the Performa, the speakers, and the joystick. However, I was told that the next time our relatives visit us, they will bring the rest. My cousin told me that they also had an LC II with keyboard, mouse, monitor, and 2400 baud modem sitting around somewhere that they would bring if they found it.

Congrats on the liberation. I'm sure that that Performa was getting pretty depressed being stuffed back in its box. That's why Macs have a happy face on them when they start-up -- they are just happy to be out and being used.

Congrats on the haul! And, thanks for reminding me to change the 68k of the week, too!

The sad thing was that they didn't even put it in the box correctly. They put the pizza-box on the bottom, then piled the peripherals on top of it. They left the top of the box open and hung dirty laundry over it. I've never seen more blatant desecration of a perfectly good Mac.

Same here, all my relatives have fallen for da peeeeeeeeeceeeeeeeee. Sounds like a great haul though! However, the 61xx series machines are PPC based, and not 68k. I'll leave this thread here for the time being though, seeing as though its causing no harm, and other mods can have their say. Great haul though, and good luck on the LCII! If its sitting where i think it is, a dark, dusty, cold basement, and you get it, it'll give it one more reason to smile when you start it up.

BTW: Enjoying your AppleDesign powered speakers? Geeze i'd kill for a pair of those things...

Yeah, I know. I think we should start a first-and-second-generation generation PowerMac forum, though. Everyone's throwing out PowerPC Macs these days, and aren't they just as deserving of a good home as the 68k Macs? Plus, chances are a first-generation PowerMac will see more use after liberation than a 68k. I use my PowerMacs much more than my 68k machines; 68k machines just can't handle the Internet or most networked games. Linux won't do much aside from webservice on a 68k, whereas one of my 6100s is set up with MkLinux and it runs MkLinux DR3 with X at a good speed.

They're nice, and downright scary to use in Marathon. However, I still like the sound better on my 6400 with 15av monitor and built-in subwoofer.

that's surprising, do you have the first rev (10-11" tall) or the second rev (5-6" tall ?)
