My son was playing with my Quadra 840av, & he managed to bring up the alert sounds. We got to recording & now when Netscape has an error my computer say's (in my sons voice)"hi mummy"

my son thinks it's hilarious & It entertains me also. It also brought a smile to my wife's face although she did still manage a moan cos I had brought the computer downstairs.

I too need a new computer desk but all the ones I see are chipboard & when I dismantled the last one I had(due to moving) I tried to reassemble it but it was knackered.

I will try Office World, but my wife has more money than me.

I am selling a Stylewriter II printer on ebay & some old cover cd's & a 33600 modem.

I have the shotgun from Marathon oo as my alert sound. See my tutorial on Macinstruct for how to get alert sounds from games.

It's very interesting how alert sounds have been passed on from NeXTSTEP to OpenSTEP to Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X. Like the glass ping sound.

We can still get a wild eep, to my dismay. When I first got the joke behind Sosumi, I felt like such a moron for not getting it sooner. It wasn't long enough ago...

I like the sounds "Orch Hit" and "Choir" for my boxen...
They're part of the "pixalerts" sound set.

LOL before i read about the joke back in 97, i used to say it "soss-oo-mee", instead of "So Sue Me!"

I use a sample of Nelson from the Simpsons saying "Ha Ha" as my alert sound. It came out of the Simpsons screensaver for After Dark.

Its always nice to hear about father-and-son Mac experiences, especially at a young age like your son, shakti. I had plenty of father-son Mac experiences too, but that was when i was 9 or 10 years old, playing games like Battleship, Patriot Command and FA/18 Hornet on the beloved LCIII. My first time on a Mac was more of a "teacher and grubbylittlegrade3kid" experience.

Battleship is an awesome game. I didn't know they had a mac version for 68k! Do you need 2 players or can you play the computer too?

our family game time was Tetris Max, Patriot Command and Solarian II on the Quadra 630 woth a 17" monitor and the Appledesign Powered Speakers. the best alert sound of all would be the solarian clip "DAMN!!!!" at the end of the game.

the one i use now is the old faithful: wild eep! i was forced to import it to use on the 9.1 install on my G4. i missed the little fella! has anybody ever done an official wild eep icon similar to the clarus icon?

You can play either with another person or the computer.
