So, who's got these memorized? Who can tell the difference between the RAM failure Chimes of Doom and all the others?

I love my IIfx's startup sound, it has this clean, avant-garde ring to it. Like it just knows it's kick-a$$. My IIci's startup sound is a little more dull, just kind of lets you know it's on without really having a presence. Tghe chimes of death, on the other hand, are probably the scariest tones I've ever heard. It's like all the fear of the Shining wrapped up into a couple scant seconds.

I used to hear the chimes of doom on my IIsi. It got to the point where I basically ignored it, whacked the machine and rebooted. I even got to know what some of the codes meant. I have forgotten since then, but still...

I remember the first time we got the chimes and the Sad Mac on my LC575. I was about 10 and thought "I am SO dead..."

we used to scare the pants off my Newspaper teach by starting one of the computers, and hitting Command-Power really quick (ie, Interupt) and thus cause the chimes of doom.

she'd freak out, but by the time she got across the lab to see which computer it was, wwe'd already reset it and she'd be all confused.
