I know this is a software post, but I am writing with specific reference to my Quadra 840av.

I found a program called av digitiser optimiser(or somthing like that)

I just want to know what other 840av specific software there is ie: the progs that will make my 840av run better.

I have tried to look but aside from not being able to download the programs(see post in software) I am at a loss through looking through all the archives as to what the programs are/do.

There's a very simple control panel called AV Turbo ROM that was written way back that copies the Quadra 660av and 840av's ROM into the system memory, which can be accessed by the processor faster than the ROM. On the 840av, the ROM is 2MB, so you'll lose 2MB of RAM, but since you have 128 anyway this won't even be noticed.

AV Turbo ROM can cause some conflicts, so I would recommend only using it on a separate and clean system install (either on a separate disk or partition) and then only when doing hardware-intensive work like video/sound editing. Make sure you have virtual memory off and don't use any third-party virtual memory apps with it (RAM doubler, etc.).

Hmm, what sort of conflicts? Do you know, off the top of your head? Also, why only when doing that sort of work? Will it not provide good benefits with web surfing, file sharing, and other every-day type stuff stuff?
