Yeah, i've been gone for weeks. I know you guys were wringing your hands over what to do without me. Well, fear not, I have returned. Since my last communication, there has been a lot of mac news in my house. I installed debian linux on my 660av again. That's been fun. I'm still learning. It's tough. I can move around directories and view text files and make aliases and copies. That's not too useful, yet, but I'm getting there. Oh a sad note, my lime iMac blew out its analog board and its not cost effective to replace it. Poor thing. It's getting replaced with a used 500 mhz iMac. Sigh. I suppose it will last longer, but i loved that little iMac. Mourn for it, guys. It's parts will be up for sale, soon. Anyone want a 13 gig HD, a slot loader logic board and/or the 333mhz processor card? I'll take em to the trading post, and then eBay. I'll get a bit of cash, I guess. Sigh. Poor iMac. Well, I'm here, everyone! Rejoice!{ candyPunk } { Captain of Observation, 68k MLA } { 68k Macs liberated: 3} { My baby: Q660av } |

Welcome back, comrade! Sorry to hear about your iMac. Two quick questions about Debian: How long did it take you to install it? How does xwindows run on the 660?Wonko The Sane Engineer-in-training 3 Macs Liberated "You can't possibly be a scientist if you mind people thinking that you're a fool."- Wonko The Sane |

I've installed it a few times, so I knew basically what to do. Strictly reading the instructions word for word, it will take you 45 minutes, maybe. I'm not running X, I'm trying to learn the basic down to earth unix command line stuff. I've got time on my hands, see. I'll need a much larger hard drive to install X window...{ candyPunk } { Captain of Observation, 68k MLA } { 68k Macs liberated: 3} { My baby: Q660av } |
