Yes - one Apple knowledge base article can tell you quite simply, exactly which of ANY kind of monitor, past present of future is supported on any particular desktop mac...

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=8300

:). Neat info really!

There is only one path and that is the path that you take, but you can take more than one path.

I stood on our "dead" mac II at one time...and it held me fine...and I weigh much more than 55 lbs, more like 255 lbs. All that EMI shielding must add some extra strength!

All my DarkSideBoxes have had a feel of my 75kg body, and they haven't caved in, and still boot up windohze ok. On the school holidays i'm thinking i should try my PowerMac 8100 and my LC630, just to see...

I just stood on a LCII to see what would happen. The top bends a bit back near the ventilation slots... but then I do weigh 75 or so kilos!

for the heck of it, I just stood on my LCII. It made a horrible cracking sound as the clips came loose on the front of the case, and the emi shielding started popping off!

hmm... I wonder if my pos pentium 166 tower would hold my weight.

I just did a metric conversion, I weigh 110 kilos or so

no wonder that poor little pizzabox collapsed under my weight, considering that 75 kilos made the top bend a little!

I stepped on an HP Deskjet once. The tray made a pleasant-sounding crunch, and the ink spilled all over the floor.

As for PC towers, it depends. I've stepped on my generic 233 MHz PC, and it didn't break. I tried it with the Compaq and the side bent in a bit. I still can't bring myself to step on the plastic parts, though it is a Compaq.
