I have three Macs: a 6400/180, a 5400/200, and a PowerBook 5300c. They are all networked to each other with PhoneNet. The 6400/180 has a 33.6Kbps modem attached to the modem port. The other computers do not have modems. Is it possible for me to share the internet connection on the 6400 with the other two machines? If I connect on the 6400, is it possible to browse/check email on the other two machines? If so, how do I set this up?Official 68kMLA Music and NeXT Expert OpenStep Page at http://openstep.topcities.com/ Macs Liberated: SE (2), IIsi, Quadra 700, 6100, PB 5300, PowerMac 5400/200, Performa 6400/180 PCs liberated from Windoze: 3 |

I did this a long time ago with a 6100/G3-250 and a Duo 280c. I used IPNetRouter to try it out. At the time, my internet connection was at 26400 bps, so it was quite slow on the 280c. There's an option in IPNetRouter to share over LocalTalk. One other note, the program is shareware. ---------------- Under the hat... |

You have to setup a MacIP server using ipnetrouter, vicom internet gateway, or the like. I had that to route internet to my 165 via serial. As I posted in other threads. vicom internet gateway had a wizard that set it all up and was a piece of cake, ipnetrouter has been a pain._______________________ Sgt. If you want to make a connection with AppleTalk, actually it's difficult but you can try to connect your computer on the net. Get an appleshare extension ( specialy appletalk ) and a software like Apple Remote Access.(unobtainable actually ). Select option AppleTalk in the selector Apple and LocalTalk in the mactcp control panel and try. macaka It's the war.... |
