I'm going to be receiving an old NEC SilentWriter 95 B&W laser printer from my Dad fairly soon, but I need the software/drivers for it. I haven't been able to find the extentions anywhere online (especially not on NEC's website), so I was wondering if any of the soldiers have or have seen it floating around? I'm actually going to need the driver for MacOS 7.6.x-9.1 and Windows 98 (and, if possible, OpenSTEP and Linux, too!), so that all of my machines will be able to see and print to it. Any help is much appreciated! 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 I Have No Legs! Edited by - cinemafia on 12 Jul 2002 13:49:40 |

I went to www.linuxprinting.org and found this page, which has some specific info about getting it to work in SuSE 6.1, and basically says that it can just be used with a generic PostScript driver (PPD file). Will this be the same in Windows98? And will I be able to use a generic PostScript extention in MacOS?666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 I Have No Legs! If it's a generic PostScript printer, OpenStep will most likely work with it.Official 68kMLA Music and NeXT Expert OpenStep Page at http://openstep.topcities.com/ Macs Liberated: SE, IIsi, Quadra 700, 6100, PB 5300, PowerMac 5400 PCs liberated from Windoze: 3 |

I'de definately get the latest version of LaserWriter software that works with that particular setup, and try the generic drivers. ~Marchie
