I have just aquired a PB 180c. It's as dead as a door-nail but it looks in good internal shape. Any ideas what could have rengered it so? I'm just looking for a list of suggestions to try, otherwise I'll just sling it in a corner until I can get around to either parting it out or I need parts for another PowerBook like it.-- Mark Benson FlatPackMacs http://fpm.gotdns.com 2nd Lieutenant - 68kMLA, LC Quartermaster Flat Packing Macs for 68k MLA airlift excercises Macs Liberated = 14! |

What are the symptoms? dings, no display, harddrive noise, etc? As far as ideas, i have a working 165 that i can't seem to find any use for. I don't have a battery or i'd use it at school. _______________________ Sgt. Thelip Heavy Weapons Specialist 950 division Liberated Macs: 12 |

Absolutely Zip. The machine does not repond to continual pressing of the power button, battery or non, or pressing of the reset/programmers switches, or frantic leyboard input. It's dead. I would jump at the chance to put something in this cute little greay case but unfortunately I am in the UK. I don't think the battery is holding charge if that helps. I have tried just about every powerbrick I can lay my hands on but non seem to inspire it to life. Any UK PB users got a 165/180 PSU I can borrow to see if it's alive?-- Mark Benson FlatPackMacs http://fpm.gotdns.com 2nd Lieutenant - 68kMLA, LC Quartermaster Flat Packing Macs for 68k MLA airlift excercises Macs Liberated = 14! |

Have you tried an appropriate powerbrick with the battery removed? If the battery is total internally shorted it would prevent any power from getting to the machine.G4From128k by Day: Mild-Mannered Engineer and Trapeze(tm) Artist by Night: Colonel of Truth, Justice, and the Macintosh Way Reserve Officer in 68kMLA Cantankerous Coot Contingent & User of the Hockey Puck Mouse of Radial Symmetry |

You say you pressed the reset and programmers switches, but did you actually go through the process of resetting the power manager? Here's a link to a place that has instructions: http://www.westwind.com/reference/TN/PMReset.html I thought my PB 145 was dead until I did this.
