I have just aquired a PB 180c. It's as dead as a door-nail but it looks in good internal shape. Any ideas what could have rengered it so? I'm just looking for a list of suggestions to try, otherwise I'll just sling it in a corner until I can get around to either parting it out or I need parts for another PowerBook like it.

What are the symptoms? dings, no display, harddrive noise, etc?

As far as ideas, i have a working 165 that i can't seem to find any use for. I don't have a battery or i'd use it at school.

Absolutely Zip. The machine does not repond to continual pressing of the power button, battery or non, or pressing of the reset/programmers switches, or frantic leyboard input. It's dead. I would jump at the chance to put something in this cute little greay case but unfortunately I am in the UK. I don't think the battery is holding charge if that helps. I have tried just about every powerbrick I can lay my hands on but non seem to inspire it to life. Any UK PB users got a 165/180 PSU I can borrow to see if it's alive?

Have you tried an appropriate powerbrick with the battery removed? If the battery is total internally shorted it would prevent any power from getting to the machine.

You say you pressed the reset and programmers switches, but did you actually go through the process of resetting the power manager?

Here's a link to a place that has instructions:

I thought my PB 145 was dead until I did this.
