Subject: [swap] eMate 300

Any interest in eMate 300's?

We have just acquired a few dozen of these in a recent auction. Boy were we
suprised to open the case of "keyboards" and find eMates, still in wrap from
the factory!

Please contact directly in case you're interested in acquiring this vintage
"pre-iBook" in new condition.

Thanks,
David

Cheers!

Is there a modem for the e-Mate, and software that would enable Internet and webmail access?

Grrr.... i'm currently bidding on 3 different emates on ebay hoping to get one in my price range. As far as the modem, i believe the emate will support all the same modems that you can get for the 2x00s as a pcmcia or the cig pack modem, but i's 9600 baud, so i wouldn't bother with it. A good list is at www.thisoldnewt.com in the FAQ, then hardware. You'll need NIE (newton internet enabler) 2.0 which can be found here . Also, you might need a driver for your modem. (you can find many at www.unna.org)

BTW, if you are going to use osx to install packages, you'll need to go here as well.

That guy is asking $225 for those e-mates, he hit the Newtontalk list with it too. I think he's jacked, but MB it's my cheap-assed jealousy.

He had a link to order, published to the list, but that's at my home machine, where the DSL lost sync 2 days ago.
Sorry.
He said something about not being able to respond to the e-mails, so I sent him another offering to trade 3 blackbird PBs for 2 eMates.
Like that'll happen.
:)

I got mine for free!!!!!! But I wouldn't pay $200 for an emate. I would rather put the money toward a MP 2000 or 2100!

I finally won one!! $46 usd, no stylus or power supply and condition is questionable, ehh... just look here if you want. I heard on that people on the newton talk list were buying from this guy so i went all out and got one of his last... i hope it was worth it.

So now that I will taking votes on whether or not to setup a newton hotline server. There's already quite a few places to get software. Just post in this thread if you want me to start it up, otherwise my 950s will remain quite and cold.

BTW, I was busy all weekend and i haven't worked on my newton server. Since I want use the newton as a pda it may not be a permanent thing, especially since it's extremely buggy.

Let me know how your eMate goes with this guy as I won one also for $52 from him.
Probably best to skip the Newt HL server as www.chuma.org has all the softwares already (I even bought the CD from him).

I actually got 2, one for a friend that i won last week and this one today is for me. Both from the same dude. I bet we might have been bidding against each other, since i think i bid on almost every one he was selling.
