I have a Daystar 33MHz '040 card, too. I've been using it for my IIci but I don't need anymore, since I'm getting a Turbo601 card from cee3peeo. Anybody want it? 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 I Have No Legs! |

PAF = Parental Approval Factorthere's also the original... SAF = Spousal Approval Factor and others, like... RAF = Roommate Approval Factor SOAF = Significant Other Approval Factor etc. There's a thread way back that explains all this, but briefly, it's a term that I first heard used by DIY speaker-builders (back when I was really into building my own speaker enclosures). The original term states that there is a given amount of animosity between the person who builds and displays speaker enclosures and their spouse. That animosity is either increased or decreased, depending on certain compromises that the speaker builder incorporates into his designs. For instance, exposed drivers and speaker cable have a very negative SAF. The same principle is easily applied to those of us who love and eventually horde 68k macs. Sooner or later, somebody you live with is going to start complaining about the piles of platinum-colored-plastic you have lying around, so you have to do certain things to make them more appealing, like hack them into "prettier" boxes, or hide them in a closet, or (worst of all) not buy them from your fellow addicts (like in FireWire's case). Boy, that wasn't very brief at all! 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 I Have No Legs! Edited by - cinemafia on 09 Jul 2002 14:33:29 |

My parent's don't seem to care. They'd rather I'd save my money for a future life and a serious significant other. But that isn't looking too promising right now (the female part of it), so i'm blowing it on 68ks!!! ... and my next mission: emate huntin'. I had to hide a bunch of stuff last weekend fearing what kind of impression a room full of macs gave off, unfortunately I didn't hide enough....some girls just don't respect the 6 color apple._______________________ Sgt. I don't know about the rest of yall (I got my suspicions), but I would have to classify myself as an "incomplete stranger" or maybe a "strange completer". Its funny how many people still believe in "face time" -- as if seeing someone face-to-face really lets you judge the quality of their morals/ethics/criminal tendencies. I'm sure that most of the people that talked to Enron execs (or insert your favorite snake-oil salesperson/politician/serial killer here) thought they were OK. I'm not saying that everyone you meet on a forum or do business with on eBay is perfect, but it seems to me that one can develop trusting relationships on long-running online communities. For me the key to high SAF is two-fold. First you got to find someone with similar packrat tendencies (i.e., showing your Mac-packed room is a good litmus test for future compatibility). Second, erecting an SEP field around your mess lets your significant other pretend that everything is neat and tidy. ack! I've just been playing with my 10800N. While it's good when it works - I think it's probably being the BIGGEST pain out of any of the things I own. I thought the 950 was having problems with ethernet - Appleshare over tcp would lock up the machine, where my 8100 was smoooooooth as with it. As soon as I moved the 10800N to the 8100... *IT* locks up under tcp filesharing. but the 950 works! bah! did I mention puters suck? oh - just to be sure - does http://www.danamania.com/temp/am2.jpg look like whatya want?. I should run a few tests on things to make sure the thing works first hey! dana dana

Its a SeaGate. Nuff said. My SeaGate 1 gig is a pain too. Every time i power up the Hackintosh I have to go into Drive Setup and manually mount it. Well, I certainly don't see why not, this thread is already OT enough! The principle is as such: Before I start blabbering on and on about shyte that doesn't neccessarily have any effect on anyone, but merely serves as an exercise in my own ability to confound and/or impress people with vocab and sentence structure, I really need to stop and ask myself why anything I'm saying/about to say matters to anyone or anything? If it doesn't, well, sure, I can go ahead and keep babbling (like I have been want to do), in which case I will be serving some kind of self-fulfilling prophecy of hot air. On the other hand, I can take back what I'm about to release into the world and reshape it, give a purpose, a raison d'être, if you will. Without that ethic, all the conviction, passion, accountability and authority in the world isn't going to do anyone or anything any good. 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 I Have No Legs! |

<faints> <gets back up, after momentarily lapse of consciousness> ProTools isn't your learner audio app, no matter how popular and/or well-known it's become. Even though I've been using it for five years now, I'm still more at home with the original, 68k version as opposed to the current, PPC version I'm using on my 7500. It's only the Free version, of course, because I'd need an Audiomedia III card or better to run the full one... 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 I Have No Legs! |
