I have a few questions:

1) Where is the PDS Slot?
2)It came with AAUI-15 ethernet but whenever I try to switch to ethernet it says an error occured
3) The max screen res. seems to be512x??? how can I get it bigger?
4)Is there any n-bus ethernet cards around(you know, the regular ones.
5)How many Hard Drive bays are there?
6) how do I get to the slots under the hard drive?
7) Can it accept a PPC upgrade card?(I know but I want to get it to run starcraft)
8)How much would be a 4x CD rom drive?

This is my first Quadra so naturally I have a lot of questions Wow is this fast!!!

OK, Answering one by one...

1) Where is the PDS Slot?

You should have 2 NuBus slots - and the one closest to the outside has a PDS slot pretty much in-line with it

2)It came with AAUI-15 ethernet but whenever I try to switch to ethernet it says an error occured

Do you have the transceiver plugged into it, and then the transceiver plugged into a network? If you don't, you won't be able to switch to ethernet...

3) The max screen res. seems to be512x??? how can I get it bigger?

Depends on the monitor you have connected :). Is that what it says in the Monitors control panel? Some of the older monitors control panels, especially say, 7.1 and earlier, won't recognise all resolutions on a newer monitor.

4)Is there any n-bus ethernet cards around(you know, the regular ones.

Yup - they exist :D

5)How many Hard Drive bays are there?

Just the one...

6) how do I get to the slots under the hard drive?

Take out the Power supply, then take out the HD/Floppy holder. There may be a screw in bottom of the cylindrical part of the HD holder - take that out first. The PSU also has a hole for the plastic HD/Floppy holder to clip into, which holds the PSU down. the PSU should slide upwards with a bit of wiggling once you release that clip, and the HD/Floppy holder comes out by pushing it towards the back of the 700

7) Can it accept a PPC upgrade card?(I know but I want to get it to run starcraft)

It can - up to a 100Mhz PPC 601. I have NO idea if thats enough for starcraft though :D

8)How much would be a 4x CD rom drive?

Probably cheapish - depending on what values of 'cheap' exist where you are *grin*

Quadras are da best!

I have a 4x CD-ROM I'd be willing to sell for a hair over the shipping cost to Canada. Email me if you're interested!

LOL I tried that once!

Don't use the apple upgrade (clocks at 50mhz). It takes all day to finish a game. I doubt even a 100mhz Daystar card would be buff enough to play a decent game (slow bus, video, and ram).

The 50mhz ppc upgrade makes my 700 just fast enough to be a decent hotline server, and play mp3s at full quality.

Do you know where I could possibly get a Daystar upgrade?
