How do i turn the backlit on this thing (Newton Original)?
When I got to install a packet I get a connection error each time, what is wrong?
How much and what kind of memory cards do I get for this thing?

Thanks!

Few more...

1)I loaded a huge 12k sound file on to it, it froze trying to load it so I restarted the Newton, now how can I find it on here?

Unfortunately the backlight didn't show up until the 130. I think you're out of luck.

What version of software are you using. I don't think you can use newton connection utilities. Get the earlier software. Also what you're install requires rom 1.0 (i think)

I'm almost sure that linear flash cards will work, but are sorta expensive and rare. There is the ATA support that should be released any time that allows you to use much cheaper ata cards (ie, compact flash, smart media) via a pcmcia adapter. I'm not sure if ATA support will work on the OMP, but i might be wrong.

I have no clue about that. might have to do with the connection software that you're using.

That soundfile probably isn't compatible.
The ROM on that MP100 was 1.2 I think.

Hey Ti (and whoever it might concern...)

I was reading an article on this old newt and some guy had a great idea for a light source alternative for the 120's and lower. He got a battery operated book reading light for 5 bucks at walmart. Sounded like an simple idea worth sharing here.

If it's an Original MessagePad, then no, you can;t update to OS 2.0. You are stuck w/ OS 1.3

Make sure you are useing the "Newton Connection Kit" and not the "Newton Conntion Utilities" to interface with your Newton.
