When using my pc I soon figured out a "massive blag"

I scoured old cd's in order to use the fonts off these cd's.

I typed .ttf in the search facility & hey presto I found loadsa fonts.

How could I do a similar thing using my mac?

When in the "Find" dialog, choose "Kind" and drag a font file into the text box, which should put the correct kind into the dialog for you. (It's probably "font", BTW, but check to be sure.)

Then, set it to look on the CD or what have you, and it will show a list of all the fonts on the CD!

BTW, you can convert Windows TrueType fonts to Mac by using FontClerk.

Search for the type (I forget what type fonts are) and It'll show you the same thing as a windowze file extension.

But Hey if you want fonts Check My file server : http://homepage.mac.com/catsdorule I've got a collection of over 100 fonts and I add every font I get to it.

No, for the most part the Mac doesn't use file extensions. You will, however, see them anyway on archives (.sit, .hqx, .cpt) and images (.jpg, .gif, .tiff, .riff)

Apple uses creator codes, those are like extensions but they are stored in the matadata.

I keep trying again later but have had no luck.

Another method for gathering fonts: download TTF Converter and you then can convert Windoze fonts to Mac fonts and you can put them in your system folder just like any other mac font. Just go to Google and type in "TTF Converter"

Good luck
