I've got a 5mb Apple Profile Hard drive. I start it up (which sounds like a 747 starting its 4 jet engines simultaneously), and for the first 60 secs or so, the "Ready" light flashes at intervals. As I understand it, this is the drive mapping out bad blocks.

Now once it has done that (after about 90secs or so), the "Ready" light should come on and stay continuously lit. However mine never comes on...

Any ideas? Is it bust?

Also, the parallel ribbon connector - should each ends have one pin missing from the middle? Mine do, but one end also is missing another pin where it looks like there should have been one. (So, one end of my cable is missing one pin, while the other is missing two)

Can someone with a working Profile confirm the number of pins I should have in the connectors on my cable?

Cheers

Steve/Jobf
