If it's ADB, yes. If it's PS/2 or serial, it's possible. There are some PS/2 to ADB adpater floating around, and something like the PAS-16 Nubus card, which essentially is the Nubus version of a SoundBlaster, will let you connect serial joytsicks.

Gravis made an ADB gamepad and an ADB joystick. I forget the name of the gamepad, but the joystick's called the Mac MouseStick II.

Yeah, the Gravis ADB is great, definitely the best and one of the few modern-style ADB gamepads you'll find.

I have a PC game port Gravis Gamepad. It's a neat pad, kinda half reminiscent of the SNES joypad but flatter and smaller. I have an ADB Gravis Firebird for the Mac that I swapped for a pair of 32MB SIMMs. It's a mega stick with enough bells and whistles to keep even a hardedned Flight/Space sim nut like me happy

I keep meaning to try X-Wing on my 840av as the Firebird software has a few issues with OS 9.1 on my 7300/200. I expect it runs fine.

Flight sims were dead in the water b4 they started, well in my experience there are about 50 keys to learn, I always crash right after take off and the graphics are usually jerky and if it were a flight sim would/should you not be able to see above you and either side of you?

as for the joypad replies cheers for these. Is there a throughport gizmo that would allow me to have my adb keyboard, mouse, and two joypads, and maybe a trackball and a graphics tablet and erm maybe anything else that can be attached all at the same time?

Yep. Get a hold of a Hurdler Nubus card, it'll give you four extra ADB ports.

From memory Gravis sticks have pass-through ADB connectors. Be careful though; each device does draw current and it is possible to overload the ADB bus, which would be a Very Bad Thing™.

Cheers!

"hurdler" cards were serial port cards, did they make an ADB version or another product? "hustler" was the name of their fast serial cards IIRC.

ADB is a proprietary interface, i'd love to get links to info on any non-apple ADB bus-master interfaces for open standard expansion interfaces to Mac O.S. CPU/Firmware!

factchecking myself, i just found some more interesting links!

sage advice from 'sadhu!

there are links to Silicon Valley Bus in my last post, they produced what is, AFAIK, the only powered ADB hublike solution.

info/links to others would be appreciated.

God I'm such an idiot. Yeah, yeah....the hurdler is serial. I don't why I thought is was ADB.

It's interesting how nobody can agree how many ADB devices are possible per controller, I've seen various numbers between 3 and 14.

I've never had more than 3 on one machine myself...but it's definitely something worth finding out. Who wants to test it?
