Congrats!
Can I make a suggestion? Not to be mean, but:
You could provide us with a direct link so we don't have to dissect URLs to have a look at it.
It would also be nice if you could tell us the model number of the computer, and we could probably reply out of experience.

Cheers!

I found it! Hate to tell you this, shakti, but the seller is the one you should be asking...and for your own protection, in the future, I'd recommend very strongly not to spend so much money on something that the seller has provider absolutely no information about (not even a pic!).

I hope for you sake that it turns out to be a good machine, though all Performas are crippled right off the bat by lacking an FPU. Maybe the printer will make up for it, though!

concur! but the copro isn't ususally a persistent annoyance.

i wouldn't worry about it tho, for $50+ if all the peripherals work it's almost gotta be worth the money, NOBODY could run Mordorsoft Word every day without at LEAST a reasonable amount of RAM! even if it's a road apple it won't be overspending in most markets.s

It's okay, shakti, it'll probably be a good system...I'm just saying that in the future, find out everything you can from the seller before buying. Trust me, I've been burned at least 5 out of 70 times on eBay!

not enough clues yet, just get the model name'number of the printer, performa, and then monitor in that order of importance, then you'll know if 8.1 will ever run at all!

i wouldn't hold my breath, if it has 9 megs, that means it's more than likely a really early performa with one meg on the mobo and i wouldn't expect it to run anything later than 7.5.3, even if you put more memory into it.

i'm guessing an LCII level machine at best (this time i'm the one who shoulda checked applespec first!), but it's still a good deal in my book if the peripherals work.

i'm sure cinemo could get it for $1.98 AUS where he is, but i wouldn't worry about it yet. it MIGHT turn out to be a nice surprise yet!

so does mine, unless it loses its cookies, that's how i ended up being "alcoa" for a while when ~coxy was AWOL, well, the first time anyway! now i log on from my friends house as alcoa, cuz i don't always remember the other password.

i'd have to log off as trash80 to log on as supermod so i'd have the priveledges to delete or edit your post for you if you weren't online or couldn't get it to work yourself. then i'd have to log off and then back on again as trash80.

Hello,
It is a performa 400 with the following details:
Memory is 9,216k and system is B1-71P
I`ve got this off the computer where it says `about this
Macintosh`.
Sorrybut it does not say how big the hard drive is, bit I
guess it has a
simliair spec to the system memory.
Hope this helps.

Thanks,

James

that'd be an LC II IIRC, don't sweat it, see if you can find out which printer came with the bundle and be on the lookout for a cheap microquadra (605) board to upgrade it if you want more speed.

the 400 will be fine for wordproc/spreadsheets or anything you don't need the 840AV for speed, copro, DSP or brute strength. pretty it up, set it up with the printer and all the works, then put a good face on it by smiling and maybe she'll only mutilate you instead of killing you.

No I have a performa with a 68030 and pds expansion slots.

But I missed out anyway cos I was busy doing other things(work)

I am now hoping that trash will tell me that it would've been a terrible mistake to purchase the aforementioned item(a 68030 accelerator)

I am guessing that you are suggesting that I buy another pizzabox mac and simply slip a new motherboard in?

What are my options?

do I stick with the machine and upgrade it?

or do I buy a new pizza box?

What upgrades can I do on the 400? ie: where can I find out what upgrades I can do?

It arrived yesterday(Sat).

my wife is at home on Saturdays!!!!!

anyway It came with a Stylewriter II printer.

I havnt been able to make the printer work, in conjunction with my Quadra that is.

I will play with the Performa 400 next week.

I am waiting for my cdr drive to come. I will copy the Performa's hard drive & then I will be selling the Performa.

The keyboard that came with it is small & old fashioned. Which is a shame in that I want a small keyboard but not an old fashioned one.
