As far as our Number of 68k's Liberated tally goes, what do we do when we sell or otherwise no longer posses a particular 68k?

I guess what I'm asking is whether the tally reflects 68k's that we actually own, or also 68k's that we have recued and passed on to others...

I would think that the tally reflects the number of machines we've liberated. If we give them to a good home, they still are liberated, right? When the US left France after WWII, France was still liberated, right? So if they are still being used by 'good' people, they still count. If they are MIA or KIA, then remove them from count.

Okay then, my tally stays at four even though my extra, "parts" IIci is even now as I type being flown from L.A. to Toronto and my Duo 280 will soon be leaving for Texas in trade for some RAM and and a 601 card for my main IIci.

Hmm.. that causes an interesting problem.

Cinemafia liberates a Duo280. So it goes on his tally.

Cinemafia trades the Duo280 to me (he didn;t, but I'm makeing a point).

If I add the 280 to MY Tally, then the same Duo is being counted in the "general" tally TWICE!

That's no good. Cinemafia liberated it, and passed it to me, so he should keep the number, but I don't get to add it to mine.

"Liberated" means more than 'recieved'. If I take a mac from a loving home, it's not liberation.

Um,

I think liberation implies more than simply taking a 68k out of a hostile environment, I think one must also restore it to active duty and put it to work (let it go about living its life again so to speak).

I know that might be too much to ask for those of you with 20 or so LCs laying around...but if they are just sitting in your caring home collecting dust then that's not too good (better than a dumpster though). In short, "Let 'em work. Let 'em live"

Well, what about letting them sit while you come up with ways to use them? My Quadra is currently collecting dust, but I shall use it someday and it is safe from landfills.

Sgt. Tallgeese speaks the truth...I am shamed.
But, then again if the Mac is waiting to "fill the ranks" I suppose even a benched player is still a player right?

True. One day, I want to set up a row of dedicated Bolo computers, linked with PhoneNET, but for now I lack the space...

I wish I knew enough cool people in the physical world to make a Bolo network useful.

Is there any way we can create a Virtual Private Network?

I'll try and create one in my testing room (yes... I have a testing room... it's my garage, and I can put any equipment in it I want... I'm also putting an ethernet network in my car)

I'm thinking AppleTalk over IP, and have inter-continental Bolo tournaments (or Marathon).. although I'll admit I've never played Bolo... (looks for download site)

How is it that you set up a network to play bolo over with 68k macs? My friend and I were trying to do it via an apple talk cable. You know the one for printers and such, but each other's computer wouldn't show up.

Enable AppleTalk and File Sharing on each machine, set AppleTalk to Printer port, and connect the printer ports with the printer cable. Done!

Oh, and you can play Bolo over IP too.
