The graphics arts program went belly up at my school so some really odd, rare mac and mac related stuff was, liberated. Besides the Mac Classic, Q800 and other stuff I found a Proxima Data Display. Its an LCD that fits over an overhead projector. It powers on (fan) but the video cable is a bit of a mystry to me. It has a 9 pin connection but I'm not hip on some typs of conntions. I want to be able to hook this up to a Mac, how can I? Any help?!

Sounds like one of those old PC EGA or CGA connections to me? Not too sure about that, though.

That would be my impression also. If so, then I don't think you'll get it connected to a Mac. (EGA and CGA are digital interfaces vs. the analogue monitor interface (as is VGA) on a Mac.)

Time to try looking up the model number on Google.

It's probably a RGB TTL type input, meaning it takes Red Green Blue and Syns signals - which *should* be the same pin config as a CGA/EGA connector. I reckon you could make an adaptor and it would work. Check out http://www.extron.com/technology/archive.asp?id=gcpinconfig for graphics card pin information.

VGA, CGA and EGA...in fact all RGB type video signals are analog. The signal on each line is 0 to 1 volt TTL (Transistor Transistor Logic)

:-)

And then he reads the first line in the CGA/EGA video signal description.... goofball

Anyhow, i am assuming that the Proxima was desiged to be used with PC's, which would normally have a VGA output. So I am also assuming that there was probably a 15 to 9 pin adaptor in the kit... but you know what happens when you assume. It makes an ASS out of U and ME

The fact that it has the 9 pin connector may be rare, but a panel like this isn't.

THIS JUST IN!
A NuBus video card with a 9 pin output has just landed in my lap! Ouch...
After removing the solder spikes from my stomach, I can clearly see the words MEGASCREEN 2001 © MEGAGRAPHICS 1988 and "This card for use with TTL monitors ONLY" on it.
