I know its early days but I was thinking;

An army may have military hardware, supplies & resources & reserves for such hardware. I we charged members then we could supply them with some basic begginer hardware. my suggestions being,

a bare 840av
a powerbook duo
a duodock
adb keyboard & mouse
monitor
modem
monitor adapter

the idea needs refineing I feel

That's an interesting idea, but it would really only work in small groups. For instance, if all the UK member joined together and pooled resources, they could probably each have a very nice starter machine. Same for the Aus members and the US members. It's an interseting thought, although in some ways it could be somewhat prone to chaos...just take a look at this thread!

I think we should just point them to a good eBay auction.

Yes, it would work in small groups... the problem is that we are not a corporation, and spanning national and international distances becomes costly. It would be cool though, an 840AV for every Soldier!

Seriously though, this could be a good idea. Maybe we could use more expendable/cheap systems like LC IIIs or SE/30s for every soldier, though.
