Sorry to act like a pain in the a$$, but this has to be said. I'm also going to say it as a fellow member, not just as Admin.

Your signatures are too long! A complete list of every system that you ever owned really should be turned horizontal, or chopped into only your favourite 68ks...

I say this in the interest of not having posts a few lines turned into >480 pixels tall!

Thanks!

Now my sig is horizontal. I encourage others to follow, it is an easy conversion.

Mine's not too long, is it? I've been beaten upside the head on mailing lists in the past so I try to keep it short.

I'd say kind of borderline myself, but it is a subjective thing. A good thing to do is the removal of white space - after all, just how many credentials do you need to tag onto every posting? BTW, nobody should take these comments as a personal attack, I mean it as a way to get rid of some excess clutter.

How about:

Um, when I said kinda borderline, I mean SVP's sig, you kinda stuck your reply in between my read and my post`1

I guess four or five lines is the best, most efficient sig.

Hey ~Coxy, do we count Macs that we rescued from oblivion but subsequently gave away to worthy owners (i.e. underprivileged children) in our Liberated count? If not, mine will drop significantly.

i have to give credit where credit is due! bigsadhu raised the issue previously about his growing sig and asked if anyone found it annoying. there were no complaints at the time, btw. i loved his "and a partridge in a pear tree" line. whatever standards emerge, IMHO he should be awarded one extra line on his sig to include that entertaining tidbit for being considerate and to promote further humorous touches to the fora.

My sig has now adopted the new zonal flow look. No more meridional flow for my sig! for you non weather people, zonal is east-west, meridional is north-south...

Is this better, I horizonatalised it a bit. Trouble is everyine going horizontal will make all the posts go wide screen, surely?

OK, to answer a few questions...

quote:

Hey ~Coxy, do we count Macs that we rescued from oblivion but subsequently gave away to worthy owners (i.e. underprivileged children) in our Liberated count? If not, mine will drop significantly.

It was agreed upon in earlier times that the Liberation count doesn't drop, since it is a measure of the numbers of times you have liberated a 68k. Therefore, if you recieve a computer that isn't forlorn/unloved/unused/dirty/being held captive by wild Wintel users, then it isn't a Liberation, really.

We kind of determined that it was long, unbroken, strange URLs that caused the problem, and often didn't work due to the URL parser anyway...

I've noticed a backlash against long sigs in some PC hardware forums, where some members tend to lists every stat they know about their main computers...
