I found 2 macs and a printer.
I found a "Quadra 650" and a "IIx"
The printer is a "Color Stylewriter 2400"

note on the Quadra:
1:it had the cd-rom drive
2:it had a 230MB HD
3:had the floppy drive
4:it had no RAM
5:it was US$75

Is it worth it to buy the Quadra? I don't have any RAM to put in it.

I bought the printer, but I don't have any drivers for it. The StyleWriter II drivers don't work. Where can I get drivers for this printer?

You MUST bargain with them about the Quadra...75 dollars is waay too much. $25-30 is more realistic.

The Quadra 650 has at LEAST 4 mb of RAM soldered onto the motherboard, if not 8 (mine has 8). So you can run a trimmed down version of 7.5.x until you obtain more RAM (the MAX is 132, or 136, depending on how much mobo RAM you have)

Any info on the Macintosh IIx? RAM? Video card? Any additional NuBus cards?

And of course the StyleWriter II drivers won't work with a 2400 . It uses the StyleWriter 2500 driver which is here (it's 4 parts):
1 \ 2 \ 3 \ 4

hope that helped!

I know $75 is waaaaaay too much. I didn't know about the 4-8MB of RAM being soldered onto the motherboard though. I WANT THAT Q650! I was thinking about $20-25 would be reasonable. I really need a better mac...

Oh, and it looks like it has a built in AAUI port. I've never seen an AAUI port, but it had a symbol that looks like this over it

<...>

Could this be AAUI? I think that symbol means ethernet. It wasn't RJ-45 I know that much!

DAM* I keep forgetting to include everything!
I did find those drivers on the apple support site.
It seems to work fine except for the fact that its out of ink!
Nothing is showing up on the page. It sounds like its working as if it would be normally printing though! I JUST NEED A NEW INK CARTRIDGE! Well, I got it from the thrift shop for $10. I can't expect the ink cartriages to be full, can I?

A quadra 650 was my first mac. I gave it to my sister a while ago and I just happen to get it back today! Anyway, I really like my 650. It takes the 72-pin ram which can be easy to find little simms. I did tons of stuff with it, like render pics with bryce 1 and other odds and ends. 75 dollars is WAY too much which has already been discussed. I bought mine 2 years ago with a display for $40. It's got the 33mhz 040 in it and great video performance (relative to other onboards of the time). If you can get it for 20-25 then i'd definitely go for it.

The aaui port is on the back and you can get adapter very easily.

I hope you weren't mad-searching-around for 'em when I posted them right here!

no, actually. I found them right away believe it or not. I was kinda confused at first when it showed my model with no driver link. So, I just downloaded the Color StyleWriter 2500 drivers. They seem to be working. The printer seems slow on my LC II though. Is this from the slowness of my Mac or because the printer is defective or something?
I'm thinking its because my LC II is slow.

I'm sure I can find an AAUI--->RJ-45 adapter somewhere in some store around here or maybe even in the Mendelson Liquidation Outlet downtown.

Well considering it's an 3-pages-per-minute B&W and 0.3 page-per-minute color...that might cause some "slowness" . I'm sure the LC II doesn't help that, though, so get that 650

Even MicroCenter (if you have one near you) sells new AAUI adapters. I bet they're all over eBay too

I just gotta get back to the store. I'm sure it'll still be there next to that IIx. I WANT THAT 650! DAM* I NEED A NEW MONITOR TOO!
If i can get my dad to bring me back I'll try to haggle them down. At the time I thought it was useless to even try because I had no ram to put in it and I thought that there was NO ram in it already. I NEED TO GET IT! If I can get them down to $20-30 I'll be OK!

cool, theres a Microcenter just due north of Cincinnati. Thats about the only location I'd ever have a chance at getting my parents to bring me to. I doubt I'll ever go to one. Oh well.

Are there any generic models of ink cartriage that I can use in my color stylewriter or do I need to have Apple's cartriage?
It might be easier to find a generic branded cartriage.

Yeppers, you can get the Canon-branded cartridges for it... the sw 2400 is just a Canon bubblejet 4000 series under an Apple-branded shell. The cartridge # for the Canon-brand cartridges would be the BCI-21. My SW 2500 uses the same ones, too.

Thanks, so I need to get a Cannon BCI-21 print cartriage. I'd like to get a black and color cartriage if possible, Cannon sells both right?

The last few times I was at Mendelsons, they did not have any AAUI trancivers, but there is a CompUSA near the Dayton Mall that has them (at least they used to stock them). The Microcenter near Cincinatti has a way better selection of Mac stuff than CompUSA though, I but almost all of my new computer supplies from it.

I was really dissappointed with mendelsons. I expected prices to be a bit lower. Everything in the computer section is wildly overpriced. I understand the minimal selection though. I just think they don't need such high prices.

eBay is probably the best bet for AAUI transcievers... at least in Aus! If all else fails, and you have a credit card, there's a shop in Australia that sells 'em for cheap, and the exchange rate is good for you (not postage, however!)

Postage almost as bad, but not as bad as PAF/SAF
