There is an o.s called Magic and there are some files which you can use to make Magic look like Apple o.s platinum!

I have spent a bit of time trying to make my platinum Apple o.s look like TOS 2.06(pastels)

Can we have an o.s forum?

can the file selector on the Apple Mac o.s be replaced with a better one?

Greg's Browser is a good file viewer for the classic Mac OS. As to making the Apple UI look like TOS, you'll need to make a Kaleidoscope scheme, though Kaleidoscope will be slow on a 68k.

I didn't find Kaliedescope all that slow, and a 840AV should handle it fine!

Greg's Browser is great when you have thousands of files and many folder levels, as I do on my blue G3. Since it was released in 1993 and is System 7-friendly I assume it is happy on a 68K Mac, too.

Ha! Your kidding right?? It took a good 20% off the speed of the GUI on my 7300/200. I wouldn't let it near my 840av unless eomone was paying me....

It could all depend on the theme. It was usable on my IIsi, but then the IIsi was slow anyway...

Actually, I use Kaleidoscope on my 840av all the time, and although it's slightly slower than without it, the difference is negligable. It all depends on what kind of scheme you use, though. Some newer schemes will crash the OS, so I stick with older/simpler ones, like Ice, White Mac and Japonesque.
