someone may be interested in this, I was till it said it was in the US then I fell to sleep. but would this work with my Quadra 840av out of interests sake?

don't see why not, a 10,000 rpm drive might run a little hot, dunno.

It is a 68 pin SCSI drive, wouldn't you need a 50 pin adaptor for it to work in a mac?

Mine don't seem to excessively. Seagate driver naturally run hot, that's the way they make them, it means they are more heat tolerant.

This is a waste of time if you intend to use it permanently. I have 1 68-pin to 50-pin adapter kicking about that I use for rescue jobs on 68-pin drives but I don't use it permanently. Using them on 68-pin drives is a massive waste of potential.

Get the FWB Jackhammer card (NuBus type card not PCI) and attach one of those to it and you should get approx. 12MB/s. Ar boost from 4.5MB/s on the stock 500MB.
