Does anyone have a powerbook 500 that they are willing to sell? This one sounds really cool, and was featured in the 1995 movie hackers (good movie). Anyway, I will be willing to pay up to about 75 dollars, make an offer if this does not sound reasonable.Humans think they are smarter than dolphins because we build cars and buildings and start wars etc and all that dolphins do is swim in the water, eat fish and play around. Dolphins believe that they are smarter for exactly the same reasons. -Douglas Adams |

There IS a 500. It was just mentioned in another thread arround here...It was made quickly and came with a PPC chip to clear inventory i do believe. I dunno, someone else with more knowledge will pop in eventually. ~The Penguin | Captain, Intelligence Operations / Space Cowboy | There is only one path and that is the path that you take, but you can take more than one path. 68k.torpedobird.com <-- Hotline Server

There is a 500, simply known as the PowerBook 500PPC. I've got one here working hard at IPNetRouting. The main difference between the 500PPC and the 5xx is that it has a 33MHz bus (compared to the 520's that are only 25MHz, although the 540's are also 33MHz) and it has 8MB of RAM on the motherboard, compared to 4MB on the others.....and of course it has a 100MHz 601 processor so it ain't strictly speaking a 68k Mac, but it is my favourite 500 series PowerBook! Methinks I should name it, currently it is called 500PPC which is not to original...I dunno, I've kinda gone off naming my Macs. Any suggestions?68k MLA ParaMedic |

Sounds like a 500 series PowerBook with a factory-installed PPC upgrade card and special matching designation.
