I am due a big update on Flat Pack Macs (for those that don't know, that's my website - see my sig for a link). I want to know if people would find it useful to include the LC 630 in the line up. It was on the original brief for the site when I designed it but it got pulled as thew job was too big to do all at once. Now I have one I can tool around with would it be worth putting up the spec and a couple of projects for it?-- Mark Benson FlatPackMacs http://fpm.gotdns.com 2nd Lieutenant - 68kMLA LC Quartermaster Flat Packing Macs for 68k MLA airlift excercises Macs Liberated = 14! |

That depends - do you want to get into a larger site with (possibly) the whole LC series, or just stick to the pizzaboxes, with their 'flat pack only' mandate?~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit Mayor of NuBus City v3.0

Well by "Flat Pack" I was generally pointing at the Machines with no screens. I don't know diddly about the LC5xx machines so I will have to wait a while before I start "Not so Flat Pack Macs". I only really wanted to include the LC630 as it's the only 68k LC non-AIO I don't cover and now I have one I feel like documenting it.-- Mark Benson FlatPackMacs http://fpm.gotdns.com 2nd Lieutenant - 68kMLA LC Quartermaster Flat Packing Macs for 68k MLA airlift excercises Macs Liberated = 14! |

I think it would be a good idea. When you think about it, the 630 almost is a flat pack Mac. While its not as small as my LCIII, its smaller than the Centris 650s and PCs (blech!) i see all the time.So yeah, i think it would be nice. -------------------------- Pizzabox LCs RULE!!!!!!! I have to say it is a very neat little box, even if the dreaded steel inner case bites I certainly makes most of the Quarda cases, perhaps exceting the 610 and 660av, look very 'solid'.-- Mark Benson FlatPackMacs http://fpm.gotdns.com 2nd Lieutenant - 68kMLA LC Quartermaster Flat Packing Macs for 68k MLA airlift excercises Macs Liberated = 14! |

the 68040 equipped Quadra 630 and its copro enabled variants were THE class of the entire quadra era as the IIci and the SE were in the previous eras. (SE/30 if you want to include it, but the 68030 disqualifys it from the first Gen. but the ubiquity and overall long term usefulness of the three i named are hard to make a case against.none of the above machines were particularly wonderful in any single category but the overall balance is something about which i invite courteous debate. jt ™. Aiieeee! I d/led the service manual today, that sure ruled out a PSU swap for this here 630! AND I managed to cut my finger while prying the lid off with a screwdriver... ~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit Mayor of NuBus City v3.0
