I've got the colour classic (original) I always wanted and most of the bits to turn it into a great PPCAn 840AV and a NeXT Cube are on the list after that. There used to be a guy selling refurbished NeXT boxes with Cubes for 99USD but then some PC case modders went mental for them and he put the price up to 500USD !!! Another one of he dark sides many crimes....

if i did a skyscraper version of the BrickOven it could be more powerful than SkyLab! but i like the idea of using that Big@$$ SkyLab PSU for arc welding. jt ™. Trash Hauler: call sign: eight-ball C.O. AC-130H SpecOps 68kMLAAF |

Sounds like my 840av I even fixed the problem with my SpigotPower AV. I felt such an idiot when I found out what was stopping it working. You can only use the video sub-system features on the ON-BOARD video controler not a NuBus card. I had my monitor plugged into the new Thunder IV 1360 card I had in the bottom NuBus Slot so the Spigot refuse to load, along with any other stuff like Apple Video Player. I feel a bit of a nonce and also am more than a bit gutted that I can not realy use the Thunder IV. Anyhoo - back to topic. I want a Color Classic and a Mystic board for it. Then maybe I'll be happy. Also, having played with Rhapsody, I quite fancy a NeXT Cube - pref. a 68040 33MHz Cube and a 19" monitor to match. -- Mark Benson

why are you all drooling about the Q840AV? sure, it's the fastest 68k mac... but it's not that hard to come by (like the color classic II) or expensive (like the NeXT cube). though i wouldn't mind maxing out my (well, it's not mine yet but i'll get it soon) Q840AV's RAM to 128mb and adding some nice NuBus cards to it... anyway stop drooling and get your self a Q840AV, they arn't that hard to come by. ido. |

Sorry for the off topic post guys but I think maybe a couple people might be intrested in this: Weird Stuff Warehouse here in the Bay Area just aquired an assortment of Next equitment. I saw a couple cubes, slabs, monitors and a laser printer. The prices were a little high, in the $200's for each. Anyways - If anyone is intrested I could pick those up and ship them to ya for the actual cost of the item and shipping, no profit for me. Again sorry for the off topic post -mpm
