Update June 14, 2002:
  • removed LC 475 and SE/30 from available systems
  • removed two 14" monitors, StyleWriter, and one keyboard/mouse set from available peripherals
  • removed CD-ROM drive from needed items
  • added Mac Plus PRAM battery to needed items - I forgot it on the first list

I've finally decided that, given that I have twenty-four Macs in my room, I need to start trimming the collection down to size somehow. But, for the ones that I'm keeping, there's also some stuff that I need to make them all happy. So, I'm going to see if I can organise a few trades.

The goods that I have to offer are as follows:

2 - LC IIIs
1 - LC
5 - SEs
3 - Classics
1 - Power Mac 6100 (which got way over-stripped by some idiot before I got it, so it has no ROM or cache card in it)

1 - 12" RGB Display

2 - external 60 MB HD's
1 - unknown 5.25" SyQuest drive

1 - LaserWriter II (dead power supply)

2 - Apple Keyboards
3 - Apple Keyboard II's
1 - Apple Extended Keyboard II
2 - old-style Mac mice
1 - Apple ADB Mouse
1 - Apple ADB Mouse II's
1 - Kensington Turbo Mouse ADB (because I don't like trackballs)

With some items, such as the dead LaserWriter, I don't much care what I get in return, even if you just wanted to take the thing for parts. Make me an offer and see what I say.

Two things to note:

1. I live in downtown Toronto, Canada, and am willing to do the paperwork to ship overseas. But I'm not sure how much money I'll have to ship things...
2. There are some items on this list that I cannot sell for cash, because I can't sell items that I took out of the Swap Shop. I should be able to trade them for stuff that I need, but I can't sell them outright. But not everything is like that, so talk to me...

Now, for the stuff that I need. I've organised this list by priority for me. The stuff in the first group is stuff that I really need; the stuff in the last group is just stuff that I might want if you're looking to get rid of it.

Urgently Needed

  • drop-in PRAM batteries (3.6 V lithium, 1/2 AA size)
  • video adapter (HDI-45 to DB-15 etc.) or PDS video card for a Power Mac 6100
  • video adapter for Portrait Display (13W3M to DB-15 port) or Portrait Display NuBus video card and corresponding cable
  • fuser drum for LaserWriter 12/640 PS

Greatly Desired

  • soldered PRAM batteries (set of 2 - the ones for a Mac II/IIx)
  • 4.5 V alkaline battery (PRAM battery for a Mac Plus - looks like a slightly-obese AA)
  • 30-pin RAM SIMMs (4 x 4 MB set)
  • 72-pin RAM SIMMs (anything bigger than 4 MB - in particular, I need one 32 MB matched pair for a Power Mac 6100)
  • SCSI hard drive (anything 1 GB or bigger)
  • internal CD-ROM audio cable
  • SCSI Zip drive
  • Ethernet transceiver (AAUI to 10-BASE-T)
  • Ethernet hub

Odds and Ends
(not crucial by any means, just would be nice to have)

  • VRAM SIMMs (512K and 256K, but especially 512K - for LC-series machines)
  • floppy drive bracket and cable for Mac II/IIx/IIfx
  • NuBus slot cover for IIcx/IIci/Q700
  • hard disk LED and redirector for IIci
  • NuBus Ethernet card
  • tilt/swivel stands for a Portrait Display and a Multiple Scan 14
  • microphone - LC-style
  • duplexing unit and face-up tray for LW 12/640 PS (which I probably won't get, because they're so expensive, but...)

Of course, if you think you have something else which might interest me, please let me know.

I can be reached here (of course), or via email. I will update this post regularly if anything is taken.

I could use that Stylewriter, a Keyboard + mouse set, and a monitor. Check out my thread somewhere in the Trading Post and email me if there is anything you want to trade.

It was a display introduced by Apple in 1994 or so to replace the Macintosh Color Display. It's a 14" shadow-mask display, and not a bad one. Unfortunately, both the 14" units I have need some focus adjustments, and I don't have the right tools. They work fine; it's just that the images are a bit fuzzy.

you got mail :)

but now that i think about it, the only other thing that i really need (after our trade) will be a smll monitor with the apple video cable connection (and a cable to connect it to the comp.)
i was thinking about getting a used one that's advertised by Carbon Comp (if they still have it), but wouldn't mind also trading with you.

i still have the SCSI 4x cdrom that i don't need (appleCD 300i Plus, manufactured may 1995, with manual) i pulled it out of a performa 5200, and it still has the rails (or is that what a tray is?) and the removable cable adapters (i have no idea how to describe what these are).

Just a quick update on this:

  • The Macintosh Color Display is gone to spirit without.
  • The Color Plus Display, the StyleWriter, plus a keyboard and mouse set are reserved for trade to Wonkothesane. I hope to hear back from him soon, after finals are over.
  • TiMacLover and Trash80toG-4 have expressed interest in the SE/30 and LC 475, respectively.
  • I have the CD-ROM drive now; I only need the audio cable for it.

I will be updating the main post to reflect this. Everything else is still up for grabs. Keep in mind, I really need to get rid of this stuff to keep my RAF from being some dangerously low number in September!

I don't know if this would work, i'll send a pic of it, if you want. I think I also have an extra cd audio cable around here somewhere...

I didn't realise that the earlier SE's had soldered-on PRAM batteries...
I may part out one of my SE's, then. It has a fan that won't spin up, and I could use various parts from it... do you know if the analogue boards from an SE and an SE/30 are interchangeable? The analogue board on my SE/30 is acting up...

Anyway, please do send me a photo of that battery. If it's live, and it's the right one, I may get you to unsolder it from the motherboard.

I wouldn't mind that. As I said in there, I don't much care for trackballs. But first, let's see what that battery is. Then, we'll talk.

And Ti is right... if the case is in any decent shape, then it's MacQuarium time! (If I part out that SE, I will probably build one myself. Finally, one of my old Macs that will give me positive RAF for a change!)

do'oh, my batteries are dead in my camera, i'll charge them tonight.

I will tell you that the battery says VARTA lithium 3v ER1/2 AA Order # 6126. I have NO clue if works, the roms on this puppy were toast when I got it. I probably could just send it (the battery, unless you want the whole board...) to you since I was going to throw it away. Email me and we can talk more about it.

The se that i was referring to was the just mobo. The case was cut open with a dremel tool a few weeks ago because a screw on top under the handle had become stuck. I thought about a macquarium, but i'm not responsible enough to take care of pets. The rest of it has been gone ever since.

Is the turbo mouse something you can sell, or is that a trade item? What's the condition? (IE, were the buttons used much?)

P.s. I just saw that you wanted harddrive lights! I have a few of those around here too!! At the rate we're going I could send everything for a few stamps...

Don't bother with the camera; that's the right battery. Now, all I need to do is get hold of a multimeter... I think Jenn has one that I could use. I'd probably just get you to send me the battery, as I don't have any use for the motherboard. If you do that, though, could you try to unsolder them instead of just cutting them out? I need to be able to solder the battery into my motherboard if it still works!

(Make sure, though, that if it has the full 4 MB RAM, that you hang on to those SIMMs! They're not worth much for sale, but if you get in an old Plus or SE or something, they can be used to max out its RAM!)

OK, so we're not wasting a perfectly good SE case here.

I could sell that to you - make me an offer. It seems to be in pretty good condition. The right mouse button has a little less "click" to it than the left button, but both work perfectly fine. And the rollers could use an industrial-strength cleaning, but that's par for the course.

I would only need one light, along with the redirector apparatus for a IIci case. That's just an aesthetic touch I want to do, to make my IIci all nice and pretty-like.

I've got a multimeter right here. I don't have a clue of how to use it, it was a gift from my dad. If there's some way to find out if it's any good with that, let me know. I was planning on not cutting it. war wounds with the solder gun is always fun to explain to the ladies...

Yep, I've got'em.

Ughh... I don't know what they are worth and I don't like making an offer with the thought of offending somebody, let me look them up on ebay and i'll get back to you.

Ok, i've got two and they both have different plugs. I don't remember where they came from. One has the small 2 wire plug and is yellow and the other has a 5-wire plug but only uses 2 (obviously) and that has a tag with a part number 590-6017a (this light looks either blue or green. The first i think came off a drive and the other was off the motherboard. I don't have the redirector thing. I had one a while ago from a 700, but that met the great mac heaven as well as that se. I don't have much space to save broken machines, if i can't fix them on the spot they get stripped and trashed.

Also, for the 6100 video adapter on your list. I might be able to get one more with the huge ebay fiasco (there were 10 or something like that). If there is one that is free and it's been OKed bt everybody, i'll get one of those for you. Also you can talk to anybody else that is involved with that, but it'd be easy for us since i might be sending stuff anyway.

To test a battery with a multimeter, what you do is:

  • Set the multimeter to measure DC voltage. Set the range on the display so that it will show values in the right range.
  • Put the leads in the meter. Make sure they go in the right slots for what you're measuring!
  • Hold the other end of the leads to the terminals of the battery - the positive lead on the positive terminal, and the negative lead on the negative terminal.
  • Read off the number on the display; that is the actual voltage across the battery.

I have no clue if that helped; if it didn't, there's probably someone on the boards who could do a better job of explaining than I could.

I'm not sure either... as I say, make me an offer.

I think the yellow two-wire one is the one that I'd want. But it's not a big deal whether or not I get it, especially if I don't have the redirector. But if it's just taking up space, then...

Please be careful with that; I know for a fact that everyone involved - Trash especially - has been getting very frustrated with the infighting over the division of the spoils. I don't want any more squabbles to be launched on my account. If you could get it, however, I would be very happy to have it...
