While working late tonight at uni, I went to the bathroom, and saw lying in one corner the horrible sight of a smashed-up 8500! Quickly running upstairs and fetching some unwilling carriers, we went back down to see a 8500 shaped hole... Scouting around we say it lying in a bin, being attacked by drunks, with a cigarette butt burning inside... horrible! If only I had seen it earlier before the drunken fools got it!

Do you know how many screws are in a LaserWriter 8500?
So, if anyone needs a toner cartridge, RAM, mobo, or interface boards for an 8500, let me know.

That seriously sucks dude. The LaserWriter is a great printer, and isn't really ready for the trash can yet. Stupid drunks...

Oh well, one day they will burn for all eternity in Hell...

Fitting punishments for egregious abusers of laserwriters:

* Run them thru the fuser.
* Dump toner on them.
* Death by a thousand paper cuts!
* Zap'em with the corona wires.
* Download fonts into them till they burst.
* Drop the printer on their feet.
* Wack them with that cool magnet inside every toner cartridge.

thats too bad. I remember back when I was in Chicago when I was little (this is not mac related) some drunks dug up a tree in our front yard and dragged it back to their dorm. my daddy just followed the dirt trail and KICKED SOME ASS! Stupid drunks. Why'd we have to live across the street from a bar that is only a block away from a university campus?

LOL! your dad is cool!

when i was in school, one group of guys had business cards printed: Amalgamated Flamingo Hunters. they called the living room of their dorm apartment the Flamingo Lounge and it was appropriately (and at VERY modest cost) decorated with appropriate lawn swag.

My dad has a hip injury and sometimes walks with a cane.

when I was in South Africa, I bought him a very nice cane, made of Yellow Wood.

If you are unfamiliar with this plant, it's harder than black wood (aka ebony) but has more flex. It also grows in a spiral type shape to the wood.

Well, the hook of the cane snapped, so dad and I drilled a hole in both peices, and glued a small metal rod in, pressed the wood together with wood glue in the middle...

And then took a looooong peice of leather we cut out of an old, worn out bag from my bagpipes, wet it in water and oil, stretched it tight, and wrapped the hook with it. Gives the hook a very nice grip, and padding, and makes it look very classy.

Well... one day, I'm walking with dad downtown, and a guy tries to pick his pocket... and without looking back, dad flicks the guy in the knee cap, thus dropping him to the ground (PAIN!) and cracks him upside the head with the end of the cane... and keeps walking.
